Archive Photos is one of the leading suppliers in the U.S. of historical photographs, news photographs and vintage stock photographs to the advertising, editorial, corporate communications and graphic arts industries. It was formed in 1991 by the merger of two well established New York based photo agencies, Pictorial Parade and Frederic Lewis Stock Photos.
Prior to the merger, "Pictorial Parade" was one of the oldest continuously operated photo syndication companies in the U.S. Since 1935 Pictorial has supplied news photos of all types to newspapers, magazines and book publishers for editorial use throughout the world.
Pictorial's historical files begin at the turn of the century. Nearly every major 20th century event is represented, with extensive coverage of movie stars (especially behind-the-scenes), sports figures, theater, world leaders, royalty, artists, writers, World War I, World War II, U.S. Presidential Elections, and Vietnam. The agency's geographical files includes b/w and color photos from nearly every country in the world.
The "Frederic Lewis Stock Photos Collection" (founded 1938) contains quality vintage model-released stock photos, in b/w and in color from a diverse range of subjects including lifestyles, technology, business, fashion, entertainment, industry and sports.
In addition to the above, Archive Photos other acquisitions include "Graphic House" (founded in 1934), "Hackett Studios" (founded 1943) and the "Kean Archive." We are also the exclusive U.S. representative of "Popperfoto," one of Europe's largest historical photo agencies. Archive's combined holdings include over 6,000,000 images spanning a century of photography. Our files are growing daily with up-to-the-minute news and celebrity photos from all over the country and world.
Photographs are leased for one time use only within a specific publication or project. Rates are based on the size of the photo as used and the circulation. Most photo requests are filled within the same day. For more information call 212/675-0115. Photo requests may be faxed to 212/675-0379.
